Introducing a New Subdivision in Chattanooga
St. Elmo is one of Chattanooga’s best-kept real estate secrets.
Nestled at the base of Lookout Mountain, the exquisite Tennessee neighborhood delivers on all fronts.
Residents appreciate the compelling architecture, lovely greenery, and relative proximity to our city’s downtown. Builders have caught on too. This post will highlight the new St. Elmo South subdivision.
Why Live in St. Elmo?
The St. Elmo neighborhood offers the best of everything. The area is treelined and trendy, vibrant yet serene, and ideal for families. St. Elmo offers a blend of traditional and modern living. Much of its craftsman-style, Queen Anne, and colonial homes have been renovated—and builders see plenty of new construction value too. That’s right. Some of Tennessee’s top contractors are breaking ground on luxury homes in St. Elmo, including a brand-new subdivision in the southern part of the neighborhood.
Most of the neighborhood is designated a Local Historic District and regulated by the Chattanooga Historic Zoning Commission. Their stated purpose: “By preserving historic properties and communities, Chattanooga is promoting rehabilitation, sustainability, revitalization, and conservation. Design Review ensures the protection of a community’s character while enhancing property values and promoting economic development. Design guidelines provide further administration of design issues which include building scale and massing, architectural features and details, and site design. “
Though the new St. Elmo South subdivision is considered a part of St. Elmo, it is just outside the Local Historic District zone.
